Boophilus microplus (cattle tick) this one host hard tick has short palps and hypostome, eyes are present but no festoons or anal groove in the female. The legs are short and pale. Engorged females up to 12 mm long. The larvae can attack man but they do not establish. Important vector of diseases of cattle as well as causing severe damage to cattle themselves. Measurements are vital for id of parasites. Ticks should be fixed and stored in 70 percent alcohol, cleaned with Decon 90 and examined with a stereo microscope.
